Itahari losses two representatives during national lockdown

Itahari / Since the announcement of countrywide lockdown on March 24, Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City of Sunsari district has lost two local representatives. On April 3, Dulaya Risidhev, 66, breathed her last owing to multiple health ailments. Rishidev was ward member of Itahari 10. She was elected representative from Dalit woman quota, shared Laxmi Gautam, the deputy mayor of Itahari sub metropolis. Just after 13 days of the demise of ward member of ward number 10, Itahari lost ward chairperson of Itahari ward number 1. Bishnu Chaudhary, 55, has passed away.

”According to his family members, he passed away at 12:30 today night”, said Lilaraj Bhattarai, the press coordinator of mayor Dwariklal Chaudhary. Bhattarai said the ward chairperson died because of his long-troubled health problems of blood pressure and diabetes.

Today in the early morning, the emergency meeting of Itahari Municipal Executive was held. The meeting unanimously announced one-day mourning for today. The national flag was lowered half-mast and all governmental offices under the jurisdiction of Itahari Sub-Metropolis were closed during one-day-long mourning.

With the demise of two local representatives, the 30-member Municipal Executive of Itahari Sub-Metropolitan City has reduced to 28. Likewise, 110-member Municipal Assembly has decreased to 108.
